Sixteen year-old Mariah Stackhouse has become the first ever African-American to be chosen to serve as the 2011 player representative on the American Junior Golf Association Board of Directors. Her skill coupled with her talent are making her the subject of many “golf game” conversations. Stackhouse, junior in high school, is slowly but surely building a reputation because of her golfing skills.
She has played in tournaments for the past four years earning 12 top-10 finishes.
Stackhouse is currently ranked No. 19 in the Polo Golf Rankings.
Assuming her duties in her new and more vibrant and public role, Stackhouse says it is an honor to be recognized and be apart of the American Junior Golf Association Board of Directors.
“It is something that represents my entire body of work,” Stackhouse said. “It lets other people see that I’ve worked very hard to get to this point, yet I was still humble about it and it’s nice to be recognized. I always looked up to the player representatives and thought it would be really cool. When Mr. Hamblin called and asked me, I considered it such a blessing.”
